Adaptogens have been getting widespread attention lately, making their way into our smoothies, wellness tonics and even beauty products. The reason adaptogens have become so popular is that they give us the ability to adapt to stress. They never force the body out of balance and the same one can be used by different people with different conditions. For example, an adaptogen for the thyroid could be useful for both hypothyroid and hyperthyroid.
We call our flower formulas "emotional adaptogens” because of their ability to restore emotional equilibrium. They prevent us from swinging from one extreme to the other. For example, our formula, In Love, is for withdrawing or clinging when conflict arises. This is because when someone is in a relationship, as they open up and feel more vulnerable, they may fear losing someone and hold on more tightly. If, during this phase, they are rejected, they may protect themselves by putting a wall up and becoming emotionally closed. By taking remedies for the opposite tendencies of clinging and withdrawing, we can avoid the constant see-saw effect of reacting and compensating.
We all contain opposites within us. Our bodies and spirits work together as a brilliantly intelligent organism, but sometimes we get knocked off our center. Our emotional adaptogens will help restore the balance.
